The New BYOB Policy
Due to changes in Prince George's County laws that took effect on July 1, 2006, Team Wench is unable to provide our 2008 Privateer Feast guests with alcohol. For this year's Feast, we encourage our guests who wish to imbibe to:
- bring what they wish to consume with them to the Feast;
- refrain from drinking to excess;
- designate a sober driver for the ride home;
- take their leftovers home with them.
What We Will Serve
Hard working members of Team Wench will help you to slake your thirsts, but they'll be doing it with non-alcoholic beverages. Please don't ask them for a
drink o' rum since they won't be able to help you.
Future Feasts
By the time that the 2009 Feast rolls around, this should no longer be a problem since Team Wench is gearing up to be a certified non-profit organization. We will then be able to apply for a
special and temporary Class C license under R.R. Number 68 of the
Prince George's County Board of License Commissioners Rule Book. Until that time, we will be unable to serve alcohol at any event we hold in Prince George's County, Maryland.
What about other Team Wench Functions?
This law change does not affect the
MSFB since its venue handles the licensing and the serving. At this time, no other Team Wench Event involves alcohol.
